THIS WEEK ON JT40
Jessica's Top 40 Will Be Discontinued In December
Due to a dramatic lack of interest in making my chart these past two years, I have decided to discontinue Jessica's Top 40.
The final chart will be posted on December 7, 2008, the official end of JT40's 2008 charting year. By the end of 2008 I will also post the top 100 of 2008 and a retrospective ranking of my chart's biggest hits to mark the end of my five and a half years of making my personal chart.
As for the web site, the domain and hosting will not expire until June, so you may view the web site if you wish to view chart archives and my site's other features until my hosting is terminated. However, no new charts will be posted during that time.
"I Spy" Girlschool At #1
After spending the past two weeks at #2, Girlschool climbs up to the #1 spot with "I Spy" in the song's sixth week in the top 40. "I Spy" appears on Girlschool's album "Legacy" in two versions, as a solo version and as a collaboration with Ronnie James Dio.
"I Spy" reached #1 following the release of "Legacy", but would likely have gotten to #1 without its help because of increased interest in the song.
Guns N' Roses slip 1-2 with "Chinese Democracy" after two weeks at #1 but retains its bullet; the song could return to #1 by the time the album of the same title is finally released on November 23.
Paramore also competes with "Decode" from the "Twilight" soundtrack, which recently hit #1 on Billboard's album chart. "Decode" inches 4-3 in its sixth week, competing to become Paramore's fifth #1, which would put the band in a tie for third most chart-toppers with Tori Amos and Kelly Clarkson.
Oasis dips 3-4 with "I'm Outta Time" after four weeks in the #3 spot, while Doro may blow the competition out of the water with "Celebrate", jumping 14-5 in just its third chart week and earning greatest gainer honors for a second week.
David Cook has the pick of the week with "Light On" at #11. The Saturdays have the highest debut at #36 with "Work". |
